As educators, youth workers, and community members for social justice, we have a responsibility to actively confront and dismantle Islamophobia in our classrooms and schools.
Join our learning community on Sept. 26 for an interactive webinar that will introduce you to two innovative curricula:
  • Challenge Islamophobia, a project of Teaching for Change
  • Countering Anti-Muslim Racism in Schools, a project of American Friends Service Committee and the University of Illinois-Chicago, College of Education
Our curriculum is situated within a racial justice framework and will help your students:
  • Build an understanding of the structural roots of anti-Muslim racism and its impact.
  • Unpack dominant narratives around Muslims and Islam.
  • Understand Islamophobia as both individual acts and institutional state violence.
  • Develop skills to speak out and take action against anti-Muslim racism.
Presenters: Zareen Kamal (AFSC), Alison Kysia (Teaching for Change) Nicole Nguyen (University of Illinois), Hafsa Siddiqui (UIC), Mary Zerkel (AFSC)
